  • Methylene blue does NOT work in those who are G6PD deficient, so cannot treat their methemoglobinemia.
  • Vitamin E 800IU/day helps prevent methemoglobinemia and hemolytic anemia.
  • Cimetidine inhibits p450 which decreases production of hydroxylamine metabolite.
  • Agranulocytosis can occur between 3-12 weeks, so monitor WBC
  • Dapsone hypersensitivity: Fever, rash (morbilliform to TEN), hepatitis, +/- Eosinophilia. 
  • Falsely lowers Hgb A1C in diabetics
